The Level 4 Extended Diploma in Computing provides a foundational understanding of essential computing principles. Covering areas such as IT systems, programming, databases, and network security, this qualification prepares learners for specialised roles or further academic study. Students can choose to pursue pathways in Data Analysis, Software Development, or Cyber Security, aligning their studies with industry-recognised roles and competencies. The qualification culminates in a Synoptic Computing Project, synthesising knowledge from all modules to address a practical computing challenge.
Equivalent to the first year of a 3-year Bachelor’s degree in the UK and comparable to the first year of undergraduate studies internationally (US, Canada, Asia, and Europe).

This final project (10 credits) synthesises skills from all modules and aligns with the chosen pathway. It involves identifying and solving a real-world problem or leveraging a business opportunity through a computing solution.
