Programme Overview

The Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership equips learners with advanced skills in strategic direction, leadership, and innovation. Admission Requirements

  • Typical Age: 19+
  • Prior Qualifications: Completion of Level 6 studies in a related field, such as a Undergraduate/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Professional Experience: In certain cases, applicants with at least 5 years’ management experience may be considered.
  • International Qualifications: Equivalent qualifications may include:
    • A recognised post-secondary qualification in management or a related field.
  • English Proficiency (for non-native speakers): IELTS 6.0, CEFR level B2, or equivalent.

Structure of the Qualification

  • Total Credits: 120 ECTS
  • Modules: 6 mandatory units and 2 optional units are required to complete the qualification.

Core Modules

  1. Manage Team Performance to Support Strategy (15 Credits): Covers techniques for aligning team performance with strategic objectives.
  2. Information Management and Strategic Decision-Taking (15 Credits): Explores data analysis and strategic decision-making tools.
  3. Leading a Strategic Management Project (15 Credits): Guides learners through the research and execution of a strategic project.
  4. Strategic Direction (15 Credits): Provides frameworks for setting and assessing strategic objectives.
  5. Strategic Planning (15 Credits): Examines stakeholder engagement and strategic planning processes.
  6. Development as a Strategic Manager (15 Credits): Focuses on personal development in strategic leadership.

Optional Units

Choose two out of the following elective courses:

  1. Finance for Managers (15 Credits): Develops financial literacy for strategic decision-making, covering budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis.
  2. Strategic Marketing (15 Credits): Focuses on strategic marketing frameworks, including market analysis, customer segmentation, and positioning strategies.
  3. Organisational Change Strategies (15 Credits): Teaches methods to lead and manage change within organisations, emphasising agility and change models.
  4. Human Resource Planning (15 Credits): Covers workforce planning, talent acquisition, and performance management to align with strategic goals.

Assessment and  Regulations 

Assessment Approach

Each unit includes written assignments and practical assessments designed to measure both theoretical knowledge and practical application. Assessments consist of:

  • Written Assignments: Required for each unit, evaluating learners’ ability to apply strategic concepts.
  • Case Studies and Projects: Real-world scenarios to test problem-solving and critical thinking.
Grading System

Grades are awarded as Pass, Merit, or Distinction:

  • Pass: 40%-59%
  • Merit: 60%-69%
  • Distinction: 70% and above
Completion Requirements

A minimum score of 40% is required for each unit. Assessments are subject to internal and external quality assurance by Awarding Body.

Professional Development and Progression

Progress to Higher-Level Study:
  • Pursue a level 8 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Professional Doctorate. This is the next academic step for individuals seeking to contribute original research in their field of expertise.
  • Some professionals pursue another master’s degree to specialise in a different area or broaden their expertise.
